City Of Laurel PEG Channel Is Now Broadcasting in High Definition

Laurel’s Public Access Television station has gone High Def!

It’s the much anticipated icing on the cake for Laurel TV which has undergone a complete transformation in the last six months.

It includes a new studio equipped with the latest high definition cameras and systems, and a television news set.

The current analog channel is 71, but Laurel TV is now also broadcasting in high definition on Comcast channel 996.

"The City of Laurel Department of Communications is once again is raising the bar for ways to communicate with the public. This time it’s HD ” Mayor Craig A. Moe says. “Laurel is just the second municipality in Prince George’s County to move its local cable station to HD. Congratulations to Laurel TV and the Department of Communications for setting a high standard of public access."

The move to HD will allow Comcast subscriberswithin the City limits to watch their local programming in 1080p, an image resolution that is substantially higher than that of standard-definition television.

City of Laurel Communications Director, Audrey Barnes says HD will take Laurel TV to a whole new level.

“The Laurel TV staff and its dedicated volunteers and freelancers are producing some of the highest quality local programming in the region,” Barnes says. “High definition will add to the viewing experience, especially on the big screens many people have in their homes, offices, and businesses these days.”

Laurel TV is always looking for more volunteers. Fill out a volunteer application at laureltv.org.
