Laurel TV is the City of Laurel, Maryland’s public access cable television station serving the city’s 31,000 residents.  The station airs government meetings and emergency notifications, and also numerous staff-produced programs on health, education, sports, the arts, and neighborhoods.  Laurel TV also airs community event notices.

The motto of Laurel TV is “Turn Your Power On."  It promotes and encourages residents to produce programming about things that matter to them and provides training in various aspects of television production.

Laurel TV can be seen on Comcast 996(HD) or 71(SD); Verizon 12; or watch via Live Streaming here at LaurelTV.org.   And beginning in late 2023, Laurel TV also began airing video versions of podcasts recorded in

our new state of the art Podcast Studio.

Audrey Barnes

Communications Director

Audrey is the Communications Director for the City of Laurel. She has oversight responsibility for the City's Public Access Television Station known as Laurel TV. Joyce Jackson

Assistant Director

Joyce Jackson is the Assistant Director of the Department of Communications. She manages the day to day operations of Laurel TV, including working with the reporting staff, and overseeing the technical aspects of Laurel TV productions. Joyce is an Emmy Award winning Sports Journalist and 6 time Telly Award Winner. She is the main point of contact for those seeking memberships with Laurel TV-especially content creators looking for an outlet to broadcast their work.

Edward Thomas

Technical Director

Edward Thomas III is the Technical Director for the Department of Communications.  He is in charge of nearly every technical aspect of getting a broadcast on Laurel TV. When he's not in the control room directing a show, you'll find Ed in the studio, or in the field overseeing our LIVE and taped productions. Sierra Jackson

Production Assistant

Sierra Jackson joined Laurel TV as a Production Assistant in July of 2022. Sierra is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She moved to the DMV after completing her degree at Central Michigan University. In her free time, Sierra is a true cinephile and will watch any movie or film once. Her passions include children and mental health awareness. #TellSomebody

Anngie Morales

Passport Agent & Production Assistant

Anngie is a first-generation Latina who wants to help out the Laurel community. She started as a Production Assistant with Laurel TV and has now become a full-time Passport Agent. The Passport Office is part of the Department of Communications, so Anngie hopes to keep up her television skills, and occasionally do a story for broadcast. Some of her work is already on the LaurelTVOfficial YouTube channel. Check it out.

Christine Johnson

Administrative Assistant /Passport Agent / Laurel TV host/Volunteer Coordinator

Christine Johnson wears many hats for the City of Laurel.  She is the Administrative Assistant for the Department of Communications, a Passport Agent, and Volunteer Coordinator.

She has also hosted several shows on Laurel TV such as: Service in Action, Meet the Author and Council Connections.

Carmen Cano

Social Media Specialist

Carmen Cano is the Social Media Specialist for the Communications Department. Hailing from Ohio, Carmen ran the social media for Ohio’s largest free art and music festival and was excited for the opportunity to move to the DMV and work with Laurel TV. You’ll see her snapping pictures around town and at events, so make sure you say ‘Hi!’

Char Freedberg

Production Assistant

Char Freedberg joined Laurel TV in May 2023 as a production assistant. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2022 and worked at a variety of journalistic publications, including the PBS NewsHour, Washington Jewish Week and Voice of America's Student Union. In her free time, Char likes to watch anime, voice act for some YouTube channels, sleep, sing, dance, act and watch TV.
